Why should I clean my solar panels?

Dirt such as dust, bird droppings, pollen, and Saharan sand forms a filter that blocks sunlight. By cleaning your solar panels regularly, you immediately increase their output and quickly earn back the investment in your cleaning set.

Doesn't a rain shower clean my solar panels automatically?

Unfortunately, not sufficiently. Compare it to your car's windscreen: it doesn't get clean from rain alone either. Fine dust, pollen, and bird droppings cake on. A wash with a brush and water is truly necessary to get the solar panels clear again.

Does the wash brush cause scratches on solar panels?

No, our brushes are 'Solar Safe'. They are specifically developed with soft bristles that effectively remove dirt without damaging the delicate anti-reflection coating of the solar panels, provided you use enough water.

Can I use a pressure washer on solar panels?

No, never use high pressure. This can permanently damage the rubber seals and the glass plate of the solar panels. The water pressure from the tap via our telescopic pole is safe and more than sufficient.

How often per year should I clean my solar panels?

We recommend washing solar panels at least 2 to 3 times a year. The best time is in April (before the start of the sunny season). Do you live in a wooded area or close to a motorway? Then more frequent cleaning may be necessary for optimal output.

Can I wash solar panels when the sun is shining brightly?

Be very careful with this! If solar panels are very hot and you spray cold water on them, the glass can crack due to thermal shock. Therefore, always wash solar panels early in the morning, in the evening, or on a cloudy day.

How do solar panels dry best without spots?

After washing, simply let the solar panels air-dry. Never use a squeegee, as this can cause scratches. For the best streak-free result, use our PureFlow water softener for the final rinse. How to clean solar panels in 4 steps

With a little preparation, cleaning your panels is safe and effective. Follow these steps for maximum output and a streak-free finish.

Pick the right moment

Clean on a cloudy day, early in the morning or late in the evening. On hot panels, water and cleaner evaporate before you can rinse — leaving spots and rings. To avoid limescale marks, fit the PureFlow water softener between your tap and the pole, so you rinse with softened, limescale-free water.

Extend the pole

Stand the pole upright and extend it to the length you need. The orange SureLock™ clamps and the AlignTrack™ V-groove stop the sections from twisting. Click the brush on with the HexaLock® adapter: it locks firmly in place, so it won't flop onto your panels. Check for overhead power lines before you start.

Lather up with Solar Cleaner
