Remove snow from solar panels safely
A thick blanket of snow on the roof looks lovely, but for solar panel owners it often means zero output on the inverter. A shame, because solar panels perform very well on clear, cold winter days. Solar panel snow removal gets them working again.
SolarClear in action: snow-free from the ground
Should you clear snow off solar panels?
The idea that panels produce nothing in winter is a stubborn myth. In fact, solar cells work more efficiently at low temperatures. But even a thin layer of snow blocks all the sunlight and stops production completely.
If it stays cloudy, the effort may not be worth it. But if the sun comes out after a snowfall, you're missing out on output straight away. Clearing the snow means your system starts producing again immediately. You also stop a heavy load of snow from sitting there for days and, in rare cases, causing damage.
Scratch-free with SolarClear: the Snow Remover has soft PolyFlex fibres: gentle on your panels, yet strong enough to move a thick layer of snow.
Control with HexaLock®: the HexaLock® connection holds the attachment firmly at the right angle, so it won't knock against the glass or frame.
One pole, output all year round
The SolarClear clicks onto the same pole as your wash brush. In winter you clear snow; in spring you clean your solar panels and windows — one system for the whole house. Not sure which kit suits you best? The Pole Finder recommends the right kit in two steps.
How to get snow off solar panels
Clearing snow is light work — if you go about it the smart way. Here's how to do it safely.
Work dry
Don't connect a hose: you want to remove the snow dry. Water would freeze straight away and leave a layer of ice on the panel.
Extend the pole
Stand the pole upright and extend it to the length you need. The SureLock™ clamps and the AlignTrack™ V-groove stop the sections from twisting. Click the SolarClear on with the HexaLock® adapter.
Pull, don't push
Place the Snow Remover at the top of the panel (or as high as you can reach) and pull the snow down. It takes less effort than pushing and stops the pole from bending.
Don't overdo it
Don't try to scrape off every last flake or frozen patch. Once most of the snow is gone and the dark panel shows through, it warms up in the sun and melts the rest within minutes.

Solar Cleaner
For after the winter: cleans deep, rinses off completely and helps you keep your output up — without a greasy film that attracts dust.
